In March 2008, the Gamma Pi Sigma Chapter renamed its scholarship after Bro. Jerome P. Guy. The scholarship has allowed students in the Bibb/Monroe/Jones county area to further their education into accredited four-year colleges and universities.
The namesake of the scholarship, Bro. Jerome P. Guy was a former education in the Middle Georgia area. Initiated into Phi Beta Sigma via the Beta Psi chapter, Guy served Georgia State Director from 1965-1970. Prior to membership in the Gamma Pi Sigma chapter where he was a reactivation charter member, he was a member of the Lambda Sigma and Beta Delta Sigma chapters. Bro Guy became an Outstanding Sigma of the Southern Region in 2008 and a member of the Albany State University Hall of Fame in 2011 after years of service.
Local area students get a chance to speak with college recruiters from Historically Black College and Universities. During the expo, students can apply to HBCUs with application fees waived and get accepted on the spot.
Pencils, loose leaf paper, notebooks, etc. are collected throughout the summer and donated to a school of choice in the Bibb County School System
